As promised here’s the second card, to read the story behind this click here.
For this card I pulled out my Altenew golden garden stamp set and chose one of the less used stamps and heat embossed my stitched panel this time with a gold printed sentiment using hero arts gold embossing powder. I love this gold and it melts beautifully, no graininess, just pure liquid gold. *Tip* Don’t forget to use some kind of powder bag to remove static from your base so you don’t end up with stray grains everywhere – I don’t know how I managed without mine for so long. I used to find heat embossing a real chore.
I then got out my distress inks – and made a custom purple colour using salty ocean and picked raspberry. The green leaves are with mowed lawn distress ink. I smooshed the ink onto the back of my stamp packaging plastic sheet, added a bit of water and played around. No real technique at all. Just so much fun. The raised embossing really helps resist the ink so that it stays within the lines. I don’t like mess on my cards, I’m too much of a control freak so watercolouring can be hard for me.
I used lots of double sided tape to stick my panel down so that it wasn’t uneven, although it hadn’t warped much considering it was normal cards stock. If I had been using lots of water I would have used watercolour paper, but I was apprehensive that I might not get even stamp coverage on a more textured card. A few gold sequins and Tada!
What do you think? I love this scripture from Isaiah 35:5 and the hope it holds out so I really enjoyed making these cards in the end, even tho I was apprehensive to start with.
